Your records. Your choices.
Account & data deletion
Last updated: October 13, 2026
Burpling lets you record on your iPhone without an account. Turning on family sharing is your choice. Leaving a family, deleting an account, and erasing your device's records are separate decisions.
Request account or personal-data deletion now
Email admin@paul-verse.com from the address associated with your Burpling account. Tell us whether you want to delete the account or particular personal data. Do not send passwords, verification codes, or copies of care records.
We may verify your identity and clarify which shared-family records are affected. We will explain the scope, expected completion time, and any information that must be retained, and confirm when the request is complete. This contact-based process is the current option; the upcoming flow will let you initiate account deletion inside the app.
1. Decide what happens to shared records
Planned: when leaving a family with other caregivers, you will explicitly choose to transfer your contributed records to the family or permanently delete them. Neither option will be preselected. Other caregivers will continue using their family.
- Transfer to the family: eligible records remain available to its members with detached attribution, such as “Former caregiver.” You will see what is retained before confirming. A generic author label alone does not remove personal information from record content.
- Delete my contributed records: the app will explain the affected records before permanently deleting them. Other caregivers' contributions will not be deleted merely because you leave.
- If you own the family: choose another active member to become its owner. This is separate from transferring records, and does not transfer an App Store subscription.
- If you are its only member: you will be able to keep an independent local copy and delete the cloud family.
The treatment of personal information in transferred content is being finalized before release. Transfer will not be described as deletion, and this page will identify the retained categories when the feature becomes available. Today, leaving a shared family retains contributed records; contact us if you want those records reviewed for deletion.
2. Delete your cloud account
Planned: after resolving your families, delete the cloud account and its associated personal information, remove login information, and handle linked sign-in authorizations. If you choose to retain local records, the app will return to local use without requiring that deleted account.
The app will guide deletion through successive steps while it is open. Closing it or losing the connection will pause an unfinished process; you will need to reopen it to continue. It will only show completion after the required steps have succeeded. No 90-day waiting period is planned for voluntary cloud deletion.
The planned deletion flow also covers uploaded account and baby photos, including replaced or unfinished uploads owned by the deleted account. A shared baby's photo uploaded by that person will return to a default avatar. Deleting a whole family will retain a photo still used by another family or profile. Other caregivers' photos and care records are not removed simply because one member deletes their account. Stored images and service caches must be cleared before the flow reports completion; copies already downloaded to another device are handled separately.
Subscriptions are managed by Apple
Deleting a Burpling account or leaving a family does not cancel an Apple subscription. If you have one, use Apple's subscription management to cancel future renewal. You do not need to wait until a paid period ends to request account deletion. The payer and the family owner may be different people.
3. Erase records from this iPhone
For a family kept only on this device, open Family → Delete from this device. Export first if you want to keep a copy. Deletion is permanent and does not require an account or internet connection.
The local-cleanup improvement in development also removes the family's app-owned pre-sharing backup files and resumes unfinished backup cleanup when you reopen the app. Until that update is installed, the existing local-delete action should not be treated as confirmation that those backup files have been removed.
What deletion cannot remove from someone else's control
Uninstalling Burpling does not delete your cloud account. Device or iCloud backups, files you exported, and copies another caregiver has already saved are separate from the live service. We cannot remotely erase exported files or a device that remains offline. Restoring an old device backup may restore local records.
Service backups and limited records retained for a specific legal or security purpose may have a different retention period. We do not currently promise a fixed backup-erasure deadline. For a deletion request, we will explain any applicable retention and its reason rather than promise that every copy disappears immediately.
